I was swimming in an odd pool. The floor of the pool was uneven-some parts shallow, and other parts dipped into a deep dark hole. I kept swimming down seeing if I could reach the deepest parts. My ears popping, my lungs burning, but I kept going. The dream then transitioned to a similar pool. A kid (which I’m assuming was my son from the future) walked across a thin bridge above the pool to me. The dream transitioned and we were in a house. We were packing to leave, frantically. The boy went out the door ahead of me, and I followed him shorty after. I hesitated in a room covered messily of papers and journals. I took a step into the room to see what they said, and realized they were all mine. My writings from when I was stuck in an abusive house. One of the papers said “thoughts aren’t real” -mom Which was a real thing I wrote in my journal.
Dreams are often symbolic representations of our subconscious mind trying to communicate something meaningful to us. Here's an interpretation of your dream:
The pool you described has both shallow and deep parts, symbolizing the different depths of your emotions or life situations. The deep, dark holes could represent unexplored or repressed parts of your psyche, possibly things you try to avoid confronting or feelings that are difficult to reach.
Your attempt to reach the deepest parts despite the discomfort (ears popping, lungs burning) might indicate a current struggle or challenge in your life where you're pushing yourself to your limits, possibly to understand something about yourself or a situation around you. This could signify a willingness to dive into your subconscious or deal with underlying emotional issues.
The transition to a future setting where a kid, likely your son, walks across a thin bridge towards you, might symbolize a connection or relationship that you are building or expected to build. The bridge could represent a path you need to take or a decision you must make to reach or connect deeply with this aspect of your future or personal growth.
The frantic packing indicates a sense of urgency or pressure in your life—perhaps a need to move on from something or someone quickly. It symbolizes departure from your current state or situation, and moving towards something new or unknown.
The room filled with your writings symbolizes a return to past thoughts and emotions, especially painful or traumatic ones, given your past experiences. The specific quote you remember, "thoughts aren’t real," echoes a past attempt to dissociate or protect yourself from your reality then.
This dream suggests a journey through self-discovery and healing. The dream sequences signify dealing with your subconscious, acknowledging your past, and facing challenges head-on despite the discomfort they bring.
Your future is portrayed with a strong connection to family, personal growth, and resolving internal conflicts. Leaving the frantic packing suggests an urgency in addressing these self-discoveries and preparing yourself for the next phase of your life.
The presence of your own writings from a difficult period points towards unresolved issues. The dream is urging you to revisit these emotions and thoughts with courage and acceptance. Doing so might enable you to feel more liberated and prepared for whatever lies ahead, symbolized by leaving the house carrying your past writings with a renewed perspective.
Embrace this journey as part of your healing and transformation process, understanding that dreams tapping into the subconscious can help guide us through real-life healing and growth.
